The paddling adventure took about three and a half hours to complete without stopping down 5.5 miles of picturesque natural beauty and crystal clear waters. Much of the river is under natural canopy. The river's depth averages from one foot to four feet. There are many twists and turns in the river providing a unique habitat for turtles, manatees, various aquatic birds, and the occasional otter.
Some students have never been kayaking before and this is what they had to say "..so tired and sore had a lot of fun. ...We ran into bushes and almost a boat. We had fun though. The water was a little cold but felt good. Best parts thats hard, lets see getting out of being stuck on the sand. It was fun when we figured out how to turn around and stop" - Lisa Palis
"One if the girls said her face hurt from smiling. It was beautiful and a lot of fun. Couldn't get some people out of the bushes - just kept ramming their boats back in haha. I said it was a bit of science and a lot of adventure!" - Dr. Monica Lara
The group saw deer, lots of fish, and spiders but no manatees this time around! They experienced was one not to forget!
