Help to rid Moccasin Lake Nature Park of Air Potato Vines and other exotic invasive plants on Saturday, June 16 beginning 9:30 a.m. and ending 1 p.m.
Participants are asked to wear closed-toe shoes, dress for the outdoors, and bring a pair of work or gardening gloves. Supervision, tools and supplies will be provided. All ages are welcome. Students who participate are eligible to receive school service hours.
The Air Potato Vine and other exotic invasive species of plants displace native species and disrupt natural processes such as fire and water flow. The Air Potato Vines can grow very quickly, roughly eight inches per day. The vines typically climb to the tops of trees and have a tendency to take over native plants.
